Big Christmas Joulutortut Pastry
Gather
  • 1 cup soft margarine
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/4 cup plum jam
  • 1/4 cup milk


Go
  1. Place margarine, flour, water and vinegar in a large bowl. With clean hands, mix the ingredients until they form a ball of dough.
  2. Put dough in the refrigerator until firm.
  3. Place dough on floured surface, and flatten using a rolling pin.
  4. Fold dough in half and roll out again. Repeat this step four times.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle 1/2-inch thick.
  6. Spread plum jam on half of the rectangle. Fold the bare half over, and press edges together with a fork.
  7. Put pastry on a cookie sheet and paint with milk, using a pastry brush.
  8. Ask a parent to bake it for 20 to 25 minutes at 450 degrees F, and remove when light brown.
