Sparkling Stained-Glass

Gather
  • clean, short glass jars
  • 2-inch squares of different colored tissue paper
  • scissors
  • white glue
  • water
  • paintbrush
  • glitter (optional)
  • kitty litter or sand
  • tea light candles
Go
  1. Make snowflakes with the tissue paper squares by folding them, cutting out different shapes and unfolding them.
  2. Mix a little water in the glue. Use the paintbrush to spread it evenly on the outside of the jar.
  3. Press the tissue snowflakes to the jar. (You can overlap the edges to cover the jar completely.) Let the glue dry.
  4. Brush an even layer of glue over the snowflakes. If you want some sparkle, add a little glitter to the glue. Let it dry. Make more stained-glass luminaries by following the above steps.
  5. Pour about an inch of kitty litter or sand in each jar, and put in a candle. When night falls, have an adult light the candles and decorate the outdoors.
