With winter storms causing all sorts of panic, a group of prehistorice creatures migrates south while closeby a human tribe prepares to call it quits and break camp. But before the humans get the chance to settle in, they are attacked by saber-toothed tigers bent on snatching their baby. When one cat corners the mother and child, Mom jumps out of the way, survives the fall and hands her baby to a woolly mammoth named, Manny, and his sloth friend, Sid. Manny and Sid decide to return the baby to his "herd," but first they must protect him from the tigers, Soto and Diego.

This movie may be too intense for the little brothers and sisters who are bothered by frightening conflict, sad moments and death, but otherwise this flick is full of clever writing and impressive computer graphics. No drugs, alchohol or profanity are used although some references to evolution pop up here and there. Some bathroom humor filters in along with slapstick situations such as a character being struck by lightning, but friendship, responsibility, loyalty, forgiveness and the value of family are strong messages that can be found throughout the action.
