Take two very different people. Have them trade bodies. Watch the sparks fly. That is the story of Freaky Friday. Dr. Tess Coleman is a workaholic, psychiatrist who's just days away from her wedding. Her somewhat wild teenage daughter, Anna, is a guitarist/vocalist for a garage rock band called Pink Slip. Although deep down, Tess and Anna care for each other, both are absorbed in their own little worlds. But when the owner of a Chinese restaurant overhears mother and daughter bickering, she works a bit of magic—via fortune cookies—that causes them to swap bodies at the stroke of midnight. The result is hilarious, and, in the end, heartwarming.

When any person takes the time to walk in someone else's shoes, growing closer is inevitable. In Freaky Friday, the results are positive as the mother-daughter battling eventually evolves into mother-daughter appreciation—always a good thing.

The main downside to Freaky Friday is that it doesn’t provide a good model for godly teens. Anna is obsessed with her crush, dresses immodestly and has a bad attitude. She misuses God’s name a handful of times and uses a few other coarse phrases. Plus, she talks back to her mother and is occasionally dishonest.

Despite Anna’s bad behavior early in the film, she develops a new love for her mother by the end. Freaky Friday can give kids lots of things to talk about with their parents. For that reason, kids and their parents may want to check out this funny, generally clean and pro-family film.
