Roy Eberhardt is tired of being the new kid at school
every time his family moves, which is often. This time,
it's even worse because Dana Matherson, the school
bully, chooses Roy as his target. Thankfully, a soccer
player named Beatrice befriends Roy, and they stand
up to the bully. Meanwhile, Roy is trying to solve the
town mysteries. Who is the wild-looking boy who never
comes to school? Who is trying to keep the new
pancake restaurant from being built, and why? The
answers lead to a new question: can Roy and friends
save the home of the endangered burrowing owl?
Roy comes from a tight-knit family, but he and his
friends lie, steal, cheat and break the law to accomplish
their goals. The group's success is applauded, but they
never face consequences for their underhanded tactics.
Although the film is fairly free of vulgarity,
Clubhouse readers would be wise to blink and miss
it.
