Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

MPAA Rating:PG-13
Distributor:Paramount Pictures
Director:Steven Spielberg
Starring:Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones; Cate Blanchett as Irina Spalko; Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood; Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams; Ray Winstone as 'Mac' George McHale and John Hurt as Professor Oxley.

As Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opens, professor Jones has aged 21 years since his last adventure. Even though Indiana is now gray-haired and wrinkled, he can still punch out bad guys with as much strength as ever.

This time around, the enemy is the Communist party, which drags Indy in for questioning about a mysterious magnetic body he found in Roswell, New Mexico. What follows is an adventure that leads Indiana, his former love Marian and his new sidekick Mutt in search of the lost city of El Dorado and a crystal skull that is supposed to bestow amazing powers on whoever returns it to the city. Along the way, Indy discovers true love and a family he didn't know he had.

Indy has been adventuring long enough to learn a few important life lessons, and he does his best to share some of his wisdom with Mutt. He tells Mutt to treasure his mother, stresses the importance of getting an education and to balance work with play. Loyalty is also encouraged, and one character's greed leads to his downfall.

The film is not exactly kid-friendly, though. The PG-13 rating is earned with lots of bloody violence, swearing, drinking, inappropriate references and disturbing images. The occult, supernatural powers, aliens and false gods have a large part in the plot as well, while the True God is never mentioned.

Clubhouse kids might want to avoid this gross and gory movie in favor of an adventure worth watching.
