Candy Cane Cookies
Gather
  • 2 packages of sugar cookie dough
  • 8 drops of red food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract (optional)
Go
  1. Set out 1 package of dough until soft.
  2. Mix food coloring and peppermint extract into softened dough.
  3. Put dough back in refrigerator until stiff.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, shape 1 tablespoon of plain dough into a 6-inch rope.
  5. Repeat step 4 with red dough.
  6. Place ropes side by side, twist together and pinch ends to hold.
  7. Form twisted ropes into a cane.
  8. Place cookie canes 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes.
